1:45 / 2:00 - Afternoon Feedback Session

Phonics

You will need a piece of paper/notebook/whiteboard and something to write with.

Phase 5: 's' written as 'st(l)'

Activity 1: What's Missing?

Activity 2: Dragons Den

Activity 3: Sound Hunt

Go on a 's' sound hunt around your home and write down the items you find.

Try and think about which 's' spelling is being used. Here are the options below:

s

ss

ce

ci

cy

sc

stl

Extension/Challenge (optional): Write a sentence for each 's' word you find.

English

Sunny visited lots of places in the story Meerkat Mail.

As soon as we are allowed to, there are lots of places I want to visit.

Some of these places are ones that I miss and local to me, such as the cinema and some of these places are a bit further away like the beach in Cornwall. There are also places I want to go to that I have never been to before, like Iceland.

What places would you go to?

We are going to create a 'Places Bucket List'.

A bucket list is a list of things you want to do.

You can present this in anyway you like but have a look at the pictures below for some ideas.

Write at least five places you want to visit when lockdown is over.

Depending on how much writing you want to do you can write just the place (the cinema) or a sentence (I want to go to the cinema). If you want to do even more writing you could also say why you want to go to that place (I want to go to the cinema to watch a film with my family).

Maths

Choose from the activities below to help with recognising and ordering numbers 0-50 (I will also add some to 100 as well). Depending on how much time you want to spend on this, choose as many activities as you would like.

Play a Board Game

Play any board game at home with numbers and make sure you are saying the numbers as you progress through the game.

If you don't have a board game with numbers, you could try making one. See below.

Templates for board games can be found on this website...
Here are some printable board games:

Number Bingo

Write down random numbers from a 100 grid (can do up to 50 also) in a bingo style grid and ask someone to call out the numbers.

Cross them off if you have them on your bingo card.

Rapid Numbers

Set a timer for 1 minute.

Ask someone to say random numbers from 1-50 (or 1-100).

Write down as many as you can before the timer runs out.

See how many you got right.

Can you beat your score?

Online Games

Please see below for a selection of online games.

Chalk Numbers

Write random numbers to 50 (or 100) with chalk outside and erase them with a water gun whilst saying the number.

Counting Actions

Count the amount of times you do an action. For example:

- pushes on a swing

- times down a slide

- seconds you can hula hoop

- hops on one leg

Jigsaw

Listen to the story below of 'We're Going on a Bear Hunt' or read the book if you have it at home.

We're Going on a Bear Hunt

Act out each stage of the family's journey.

The family's aim was to find a bear and they were faced with many obstacles when trying to achieve that aim. Sometimes that happens to us too. We want to achieve something but something stops us from achieving it straight away.

Can you think of a time when you found something difficult?

How did you keep going?
