Transition into Tanworth-in-Arden Primary School
We are so pleased that you have chosen to come to Tanworth and we can’t wait to meet you all. We already know some of you because your child attends our Nursery, which is great. For those of you that we don’t yet know, we are really looking forward to getting to know you.
At Tanworth, we are committed to providing a smooth transition into school to allow each child to settle in, get to know the staff and to make new friends. We know that parents and carers play a really important role in this transition so that you too can feel reassured that your child is safe and happy at school.
Stay and Play Visits
In the Summer Term, we invite each child to visit our Reception classroom for two half an hour sessions. These sessions give the children the opportunity to meet the staff and begin to get to know their classroom.
Nursery and Pre-school Visits
We aim to visit all of our children in their current nursery/pre-school setting. This is a lovely time to talk to your child’s key person and to spend time with children in an environment they are familiar with. Children always love showing us around!
Home Visits
During the first week of September, we offer home visits which last for approximately 20 minutes. These visits enable us to start building positive relationships with all of our families. Your child’s class teacher and teaching assistant will ask a few general questions to help us get to know your child. We will also bring our Tanworth class bear to meet the children and your child’s school book bag.
Staggered Start
Effective transition into school is very much supported by a staggered start. There are a lot of new routines to become familiar with, alongside a new environment and all the new learning. Tanworth's transition into school supports children into becoming settled, independent young learners.
Please see the letter in your new starter pack, which you will receive at the New Parents' Meeting, for all the staggered start information.
