What is LYFTA?
Can you envision a world where every learner feels a deep sense of connection, understanding, and belonging to a global community, and feels that they have agency to create a brighter future?
LYFTA'S mission is to integrate learning from life into the heart of education by providing cinematic experiences that connect learning to real life through authentic human stories.
Using LYFTA the children at Tanworth are able to visit countries all around the world, explore diverse cultures and meet many different people and find out more about them, their lives, faith and culture.
By using LYFTA we are not only providing opportunities for the children to build upon their cultural capital by exploring interactive 360° spaces and soundscapes of real locations but also by helping them develop their understanding of themes such as sustainability and global citizenship; diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging; character and values; social and emorional learning.
How and when do we use LYFTA at Tanworth?
Assembly/Collective Act of Worship
LYFTA is used in whole school assemblies
Termly LYFTA Challenges
LYFTA Challenges are set as additional home learning
LYFTA in class
Teachers access LYFTA to enrich their teaching. The school curriculum has been shared with the LYFTA team and links have been made to where LYFTA can enrich and support the teaching in class.
Live LYFTA lessons
Each class will join in with live LYFTA lessons. This is a chance to join schools across the country at the same time and explore a LYFTA World together. The children at Tanworth have really enjoyed taking part and get very excited if Tanworth is mentioned live. Some children have even had the chance to contribute, live.
September 24 LYFTA Club
We are launching a new LYFTA Club. LYFTA Club will meet once a week and explore different themes. This will be a chance for children to travel the world virtually finding out about the theme e.g. food, holidays, celebrations, clothes, school etc.
LYFTA CHALLENGE
During January and February 2024, thousands of children (including children from Tanworth) took part in a Lyfta live lesson and collaborative art project - #LyftaMandalaCollab. In celebration of International LEGO Day, learners everywhere were invited to explore Lyfta storyworld "Building Imagination" from China, to meet Wei Wei; the only female LEGO Certified Professional in the world as she helps unleash the creativity of 2,000 children to build a giant LEGO mandala. Inspired by what they had seen, students created their own mandala designs, made from LEGO and other materials, to form part of a collaborative mandala design; a collective expression of creativity!
We sent out entrants off and then we found out that Phoebe in Year 1 won the overall competition! Phoebe won a £300 Lego voucher for Tanworth. Well done Phoebe!
